“The Voice of the Sea” arrives in Menorca thanks to the Consell Insular de Menorca and the Biosphere Reserve

On Friday, July 25, an institutional visit to the exhibition took place, attended by members of the Consell Insular de Menorca and the MARE team. Present at the event were Simón Gornés, Minister of Environment, Biosphere Reserve and Local Cooperation of the Consell Insular de Menorca; David Vidal, Director of the Biosphere Reserve; and Amador Garcías, MARE Coordinator.

“The Voice of the Sea” can be visited at Parc Rochina in Maó until August 13

The municipality of Maó is hosting the travelling exhibition “The Voice of the Sea”, organized by MARE with the support of the Consell Insular de Menorca and other institutions. The exhibition features a selection of all the winning images from the 5th Edition of the Audiovisual Contest for the Conservation of the Balearic Sea (2024) and will be on display at Parc Rochina in Maó until August 13, before touring all the islands.

The exhibition offers an immersive and interactive experience: each image includes a QR code that links to the photographer’s Instagram profile, where they share their personal message and vision for the conservation of the Balearic Sea. With a design inspired by the visual language of social media, “The Voice of the Sea” aims to break down barriers and reach all types of audiences, inviting people to look, listen, and act for marine conservation.

On Friday, July 25, an institutional visit to the exhibition took place, attended by members of the Consell Insular de Menorca and the MARE team. Present at the event were Simón Gornés, Minister for the Department of Environment, Biosphere Reserve and Local Cooperation of the Consell Insular de Menorca; David Vidal, Director of the Biosphere Reserve; and Amador Garcías, MARE Coordinator.

During the visit, the Consell reaffirmed its commitment to marine conservation and to actively collaborating with initiatives that combine awareness, outreach, and local action. In this regard, Minister Simón Gornés highlighted:

“We support projects like MARE because they contribute to our shared mission of protecting the marine environment. These kinds of exhibitions help bring the message of conservation to a wide audience and highlight the work of many people who, from different fields, are working to protect the Balearic Sea.”

The “Voice of the Sea” exhibition tour is made possible thanks to the support of FNG Fornés Logistics, MARE’s logistics partner—an environmentally committed company that prioritizes efficient routes, a low-emission fleet, and renewable energy. Given the reliance on maritime transport in island territories, they work with operators that share this environmental commitment.
